I say procrastination is the thief of time (I've always loved that phrase) and they are probably right.

Most of us always look at the surf when we get to the beach (despite often having spent a fair amount of time checking a variety of places to be) but I think sometimes you can look too long. Especially if you are in Biarritz and share your life with one of the best shapers of the world.

What is happening?

I walked down to the point today, early. There were some corners. I paddle out. I was alone. It was "a little junky". It is silly though. If these conditions would have been in other place, they would have been telling every one: " you really missed it!" we aren't in "the point"...although I had surfed a long wave.

I am stunned!! One of the greatest boardmen ever passes away and all you can do is print a paragraph about him. You have dropped your journalistic responsibilities by not providing your readers with a more comprehensive article on his life and times.

His achievements and the legacy that he (and others of his time) created are the foundation for the popularity of the sport and the resurgence of longboarding. I can only hope that this oversight was due to issue deadlines, and I can look forward to an appropriate biography in a later isse.

This summer I was really motivated to get down the coast and find some new nooks and crannies to slide and "taste" some sweet spots. Hopefully the weather will start to co-operate again so our future nights under canvas will be as pleasant as this one was...

Gerry Lopez says that with surfing there are no prizes to bring home after a trip—no antlers to hang on the mantle to remind you of great sessions or amazing waves. He says that’s the reason why surf culture has developed such an amazing array of storytellers, because, “Sometimes the only thing as good as surfing is talking about it afterwards.”

Actually is not my case.

SG says that if only takes one good wave for a whole session you be saved.

Look out the window where the wind blows a brief shower,
of leaves on the stream, swift with earlier rainfall, and try to imagine that they love their vanishing merely to leave the surface untroubled and clear.
Then listen for breath in this room without music.
While you can hear it the stream makes a personal sound.

Waitin' for the final of the summer.

Feels like just yesterday I was out waitin' for the final lumps of the final south of the summer. That turned into being stoked for winter who was on her way.

Well that didn't really happen this season.

Now I am back thinkin' about this sunrise view again. Super early dark sessions waitin' for dawn to break.
